Originally from Northern Ireland, Alison has made Edinburgh her home for many years where her studio is also based.
Working with a limited palette, Alison simplifies form and colour to create a gentle sense of abstraction. While her approach is structured, her process remains intuitive, using tools such as knives, skewers and occasional collage to build subtle shifts in texture and perspective.
Alison takes inspiration from the natural world, exploring the emotional resonance of everyday objects - how they connect us to place, memory and identity. Her still-life compositions often feel like quiet moments of pause, inviting the viewer to reflect on the stories suggested by their arrangements.
The result is thoughtful, evocative paintings that celebrate the quiet significance of the familiar. Her work is held in collections across the UK, Ireland and beyond.
