Grace Cameron

After graduating in Fine Art Printmaking from Duncan of Jordanstone in 2000, Grace worked mainly in layers of printmaking, but then started painting in acrylic. Grace has worked on many community projects working with children and spent three years as an Art Tutor at Dundee College until. She now paints full-time.

Inspired by the colours, textures, patterns and atmosphere of Scotland's beautiful land, much of the recent work has focused on the west coast and other places such as Orkney, Skye and Glencoe.

Grace loves to build up the layers of colours and textures indicative of Scotland's land. Her aim is to bring the viewer closer to the land and remind them of just how lucky we are to have this beautiful, ancient, ever changing and sometimes fragile place called Scotland.

"I paint flat using palette knives, hake brushes and at times, just my fingers. I try to bring energy and movement into the work, and by building up layers of paint that sometimes makes for a textural surface, and then the magic begins and the painting starts to emerge, and sometimes it is like the painting has almost painted itself."
