Born in West Sussex in the 1960's, Paul developed an interest and aptitude to art from an early age, through the encouragement of one of his teachers at primary school. He completed his first sculpture of a pheasant in mahogany at the age of ten.
He has been fascinated in the bird world throughout his life, having kept numerous species as pets in aviaries, which gave him the ability to closely scrutinise their form and characteristics. Initially working in wood, Paul discovered that the delicate features of these creatures didn't lend themselves to woodcarving, so he worked to simplify the design of his pieces to incorporate an Art Deco style - one of his other great interests. However, he later opted to move away from wood to work in bronze sculpture, thus allowing him far more flexibility and freedom in his pieces.
Paul's methods of casting bronze sculpture set him apart from many of his peers; as opposed to limited runs, he used 'cold cast resins' to create open editions, which combine bronze powder with copper, iron or marble and allow the pieces to set more rapidly. His work has sold to art collectors globally, in addition to the Royal family.
Paul sadly passed away in June 2023, however his wife and family continue to run the business to ensure that his beautiful sculptures live on.
