Anna
is a ceramicist based in Crieff, Perthshire. She grew up in a suburb of Nottingham.
In 2003, Anna moved up to Glasgow with her now husband, Neil. From there, and
with Neil's support, Anna had the chance
to explore and potentially fulfil her
creative dreams. She undertook a national certificate in Ceramic Art in the Environment and, with the support and teaching of a
first class tutor, Anna was accepted on to the
Ceramic Degree
course at the
Glasgow School
of Art in 2005. It was at this time that
Anna became
pregnant with her first child, and she set aside
her studies to concentrate
on being a mum to her two children.
During her studies, Anna mainly focused on making hand-built sculptural pieces,
influenced by the natural world and the beauty, intrigue, and detail that it
presents. Anna is largely self-taught on the wheel. A year after having their
first child, Anna and Neil moved to Crieff and Anna understudied with Len
Whatley at Crieff Ceramics, where she produced hand-thrown
tableware.
Anna has since set up a workshop at home, producing functional and decorative pieces, both hand built and hand thrown. She is
constantly experimenting, developing, and expanding her ranges; every piece is
carefully considered to produce a
dynamic and
unique work of art.
