Georgina McMaster is one of Scotland's most talented and recognisable animal painters.
Graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 2002, gaining a BA Honours in Visual Communication and specialising in Drawing and Painting, she was awarded the First Time Exhibitor prize in 2007 at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the David Cargill Award in 2008 by the prestigious Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts. Also in 2008, she was elected as an Artist Member of the Glasgow Art Club. Her paintings are widely exhibited throughout the UK and abroad.
"My work to date has been mainly based on animals, in particular Scottish wildlife. I use oil on canvas, leaving the background blank to draw the focus purely on the animal. Capturing the character and soul of the animal in their eyes and the softness of the fur on the beast, is what I endeavour to create in my work. I try to achieve the different textures by using lots of light layers of paint and a wide variety of brushes."
