Bobbie was born in Dartford, London in 1964 and, at the age of eleven, moved to Cornwall with her parents and proceeded to fall in love with the endless cliffs and beaches which made up the coastline she lived by. Being so close to St Ives and being able to visit Barbara Hepworth's studio and see the works of Alfred Wallis and Mark Rothko encouraged her love of art and creativity.
She studied graphic design firstly at Cornwall College and then at Bournemouth College of Art & Design between 1983 - 1987. After graduating she began work as a designer for various large design companies in London. There she first became aware of glass as a medium, where Bobbie was inspired by the many fine examples of stained glass to be found in the churches, cathedrals and state buildings in the city.
In 1990 Bobbie moved to Edinburgh, where the Old Town's beautiful architecture and dark past rekindled her love of stained glass. After taking some courses at the Edinburgh Stained Glass House, she took up the post of lecturer at Edinburgh College of Art and later became Head of Department of Visual Communication. Whilst there Bobbie decided to take an advanced course in glass blowing and kiln casting at the Liquid Glass Centre, Bath.
Bobbie has since moved to Ceres in Fife where she has built her own glass studio, and is now spending all her time developing her ideas and techniques to produce beautiful glass that everyone can enjoy.
