Carolyn grew up in
rural Ayrshire. She went on to study drawing and painting in Italy and later
took classes in the Art Institute of Chicago. Carolyn now lives in Perthshire
where she paints full-time.
Carolyn's subjects include
landscape and floral, and she finds much of her inspiration along the west
coast of Scotland and the Outer Hebrides. Seasonal changes in the
Scottish Landscape and weathered buildings suggest the working relationship of
people with the land and sea are the subjects that excite her.
Her fascination with fabrics
and materials has led to Carolyn developing a unique technique which often
incorporates the use of collage to create interesting and varied surface
textures and colour.
