After taking early retirement from
a first career in 2010, Sandra studied a B.A.Hons in Applied Arts (majoring in
Glass) at Glyndwr University School of Art & Design. Her degree show was
exhibited at New Designers in Islington, London in 2016 and was then included
as part of a touring exhibition of selected makers during 2017.
As her work has progressed, she has
set up a studio in North Shropshire where she now focuses on designing and
creating large kiln formed cast sculptures, inspired primarily by the
Shropshire landscape. Her inspiration comes from the texture, colour and shape
of the landscape.
Her glass is a reflection of the
landscape around her often starting with a sketch or water colour which then
leads to modelling the shape and form of the master. Being able to visualize
the finished piece in glass is key to the creation of her work.
In 2020 Sandra produced her first
cast glass collection of work entitled ‘Land, Sea and Sky’. A collection of
unique sculptures which capture both the colour and movement of nature.
