Born in Glasgow in 1949, Lin grew up on the Ayrshire coast. Lin always had an ability for drawing and sketching from an early age and although she commenced an early career in nursing, she painted continually and, once her family grew up, her full-time painting career really took off. She now lives and works from her studio on the outskirts of Crieff.
A highly regarded and an award-winning artist, Lin is a Member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists and also a Member of the Paisley Art Institute and award winner of the coveted Lauder Award by the Glasgow Society of Women Artists, the Neville Award from Paisley Art Institute and the J Trevor & Webster Award from RGI.
Lin's reputation as an artist has increased over the years and she has been honoured by exhibiting at the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, and the Scottish Artists and Artist Craftsmen. Working predominantly in oils, Lin is a versatile painter who can turn her hand to figurative work as well as landscapes, seascapes, urban scenes and still lifes. She enjoys trying to capture a moment - a small child playing on a beach, the contrast of sun and shadow on a Mediterranean wall, the ever-changing landscape around and the people in it. Bright colours and the interaction of light and shade are characteristic of her vibrant, uplifting pieces.
