Judith Bridgland Solo Show for March
by Iain Donaldson
Monday 12th March 2007
"Into the West" Judith Bridgland
Judith's one person show runs at Annan Gallery from 17 March to 8 April.
Busy in her studio over Winter, Judith has produced a stunning collection of high colour landscapes, themed on the coastal and mountain scenery of the West of Scotland. Vibrant colours capture the mood and drama of each location just as it was when she visited. Those vibrant colours can come from wild flowers in the foreground, trees or from sunset effects, reminding us that Scotland offers strong visual interest, even on the 'dreich' days. Allied to those high colours is her unique impasto style which brings depth to each painting . Judith prefers to work to a square format to provide tight composition right to the edge of the canvas. Work in this format for the Exhibition ranges in size from wall-dominating 36 inch canvases to small scale studies.
This is a landmark event for Judith in her home city of Glasgow, amidst a busy career of exhibition with London Galleries and at International Art Fairs. Catch her show at the Annan Gallery if you can.
Meet the artist and chat with her about her work. Judith will be in the Gallery for the Show Preview on Friday 16 March 6 - 9pm and on Saturday 17 March 12 - 2pm.
note: work in this exhibition is available for sale from the start of the Preview on 16 March 6pm. All paintings will remain on view for the duration of the exhibition. Collection day for purchases is Saturday 7 April 2007 or by arrangement.
